projectile motion

Summary

Projectile motion happens when an object is launched into the air and moved horizontally and vertically at the same time the horizontal motion stays consistent while the vertical motion accelerates due to gravity. These two motions are solved separately, but they are connected by time.

  • Projectile motion = horizontal + vertical motion

  • Horizontal

  • Consent velocity

  • v = d/t

  • Vertical

  • Acceleration = -9.8m/s²

  • Use kinematic equations

  • Time is the same in both directions

At maximum height

  • Vertical velocity = 0

If object lands at same height

  • Vertical displacement = 0

  • Split initial velocity into components first
