  • Wellness-the way a person feels about his or her health and quality of life.
  • Illness: how a person feels about their health. Relative
  • Disease: a condition in which a persons bodily or mental functions aren’t normal.
  • Disability-a deviation from a normal function.
  • physical wellness: maintaining a healthy body, having a balanced diet, exercising
  • emotional wellness: people's ability to understand themselves. To recognize and accept who they are
  • Intellectual wellness: people's ability to make informed beneficial decisions. They can think critically, prioritize, and keep informed.
  • Spiritual wellness: is completely personal. May be faith based.
  • Social wellness: relations effectively to others. Being able to form friendships, communicate and laugh; being confident and flexible
  • Environmental Wellness: one's relationship with the environment. Being ecofriendly as well as protecting yourself from the environment
  • Remission: period during which a chronic disease is neither active nor acute, and the person has no symptoms
  • Autonomy: their right to self-determination; informed decision-making)
