cultural landscape- complex interaction between people and their environments, resulting in combinations of physical features, agricultural/industrial practices, religious/linguistic characteristics, sequent occupancy, other expressions
religious landscape- physical look of religious spaces and buildings, impact of environment on religious beliefs, religious beliefs impact on environment
physical anthropologist- studies groups of humans, their interaction, with physical geography, social relations, culture
human genome project- determine the complete structure of human DNA and understanding functions of all genes (traced race from early migration to modern)
internal controls- cultural practices that are designed to perpetuate an ethnic group (preserve traditions)
external controls- cultural practices designed to isolate and restrict one ethnic group form others in a society
egalitarian society- no discernable inequalities by gender (compared to matriarchal and patriarchal)
