Acids
ionise in water
give off Hydrogen 1+
most compounds that begin with "H" are acids
What is an acid?
A chemical dissolved in water is aqueous. This splits up the compound
All of these are aqueous (except H2O, because it's already the liquid in question - water)
HCl ➝ H+ & Cl-
H2O ➝ H+ & OH-
H X - X would be an anion
HCl
Chloride ➝ Hydrochloric Acid
HNO2
Nitrite ➝ Nitrous Acid
HNO3
Nitrate ➝ Nitric Acid
H2SO4
Sulfate ➝ Sulfuric Acid
sometimes the name changes a little. deal with it (if it sounds natural it's probably fine)
