Exodus 17

The Jews goes from Sin to Rephidim, but there was no water in that land. The people argue with Moses to provide water and Moses argues back asking why they’re scolding him.

They continue to not have water and wonder where God is now? Moses asks God what to do as the people are nearly ready to stone him (They’re just mad i think)

God tells Moses to go with the elders with his wooden rod. God will be there at the rock in Horeb. Moses is to strike the rock with his staff and only then will water come out of it.

Moses does so in front of the elders and they name the place Massah and Meribah to scorn the Jews little faith and temptation

Here come the Amalekites coming to fight the Israelites. Moses says to choose some men to go fight the next day.He will stand on top of a mound and hold up the rod.

The fight occurs the next day and Moses holds up his staff while praying. Whenever the staff is up, the Israelites are in power. But when the staff is let down, the Amalekites begin to take over. Moses begins to get tired, so Aaron and Hur sit him down on a rock and hold up his arms until sunset.
