Motivating Employees
Definitions
- Wage: Payment for work, typically paid weekly.
- Time Rate: The amount paid to an employee for one hour of work.
Methods of Motivation
- Many ways involved in giving incentives to employees.
- Methods of incentives to employees that are most frequently used:
Wages
- Wages are often paid every week directly into a bank account.
- The worker gets paid cash, or some money. Wages tend to be paid in cash in a warehouse or factory setting.
- If the employee works extra hours then they will get paid overtime. This is their incentive to work additional hours.
- However, there are some downfalls to giving a wage:
- As the wages are paid directly this takes time and money.
- Wage clerks are often needed to manage the wages.
