Adventures of huckleberry finn

Chapter 1: In the first chapter, Huck introduces himself to the reader. He explains that the book is a continuation of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and that at the end of that story, he and Tom found treasure. Because of that, each of them became rich. The Widow Douglas took Huck in to “sivilize” him, teaching him manners, religion, and how to behave properly. Huck doesn’t enjoy this new lifestyle and feels uncomfortable with the rules and restrictions. He prefers freedom and living on his own. However, he goes along with it because the Widow is kind to him. Miss Watson, the Widow’s sister, also lives there and is much stricter, constantly scolding Huck. At the end of the chapter, Huck hears a sound outside at night, goes to the window, and sees a meowing signal—it turns out to be Tom Sawyer, waiting for him to sneak out and begin an adventure.
