Who is God the Son?

  • Jesus is God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity.
  • Eternally begotten of the Father, not created.
  • Shares the same divine nature as the Father; "true God from true God."
  • John1:13,14John 1:1-3, 14: "In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God… and the Word became flesh."
  • Became flesh for our salvation (CCC 456-457).

God the Son Reveals the Father

  • John14:9John 14:9: "Whoever has seen me has seen my Father."
  • Reveals God through His words, actions, and love.
  • Reveals the Father's love, justice, and mercy.
  • Opens the way to salvation through His life, death, and resurrection.
  • Resurrection confirms His divine identity and brings new life (CCC 651-654).
  • Acts as a bridge between humanity and divinity.

The Son's Role in the Trinity

  • Sent by the Father to fulfill God’s plan of salvation.
  • Sends the Holy Spirit with the Father to guide the Church after His resurrection.
  • Highlights the Trinity as a community of love and mission (CCC 243-244).
  • The Son’s mission is inseparable from the Father and the Spirit (CCC 257).

Belief in God the Son

  • Central to Catholic life and faith.
  • Worshipped as God, not just a wise man or prophet.
  • Every sacrament, prayer, and act of worship is rooted in Christ.

  • Trusting in God's love and living as His followers.
  • Without Jesus, there is no way to understand the full nature of God or experience salvation (CCC 431-432).
