Meaning and Concept of Hajj
- Literal Meaning: The word Hajj literally means "intention" or "aiming to reach a specific destination" (قصد یا ارادہ کرنا).
- Terminology in Islamic Sharia: In Islamic jurisprudence, Hajj refers to the act of Muslims visiting the House of Allah (the Holy Kaaba) in a prescribed manner during specific designated days of the Islamic lunar calendar to attain the pleasure and goodwill of Allah Almighty (شریعت کی اصطلاح میں مسلمانوں کا اللہ تعالیٰ کی خوشنودی حاصل کرنے کے لیے مخصوص طریقے سے بیت اللہ کی زیارت اور خاص ایام میں مناسک حج کرنا ہے).
Quranic Injunction on Hajj
- Quranic Translation: Allah Almighty states in the Holy Quran:
"اور اللہ کے لیے لوگوں پر اس گھر کا حج کرنا فرض ہے جو کوئی بھی اس طرف جانے کی استطاعت رکھتا ہے۔"(Translation: "And pilgrimage to the House is a duty which mankind owes to Allah, whoever can find a way thither.")
Difference Between Male and Female Ihram
- Male Ihram: Consists of two unstitched sheets/cloths (دو چادریں)—one wrapped around the waist and one draped over the shoulders.
- Female Ihram: A woman's Ihram is her standard modest everyday Islamic dress (عام لباس).
Criteria for Being Capable (Sahib-e-Istata'at)
- Definition of Sahib-e-Istata'at (صحت و مالی لحاظ سے صاحبِ استطاعت): A person who possesses the physical and financial capability to perform Hajj.
- Three Essential Conditions:
- Physical Health: The individual must be healthy and physically fit (بندہ صحت مند ہو).
- Financial Means: The individual must possess sufficient funds to cover all travel and accommodation expenses (سفر کے اخراجات رکھتا ہو).
- Safe Passage: The travel route to the holy sites must be secure and peaceful (راستہ پرامن ہو).
Fundamental Pillars (Arkan) of Hajj
- Two Primary Pillars:
- Wuqoof-e-Arafah (وقوفِ عرفہ): Staying at the Plain of Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah.
- Tawaf-e-Ziyarat (طوافِ زیارت): Performing the essential circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba after returning from Mina.

Literal Meaning of Worship (Ibadah)
- Definition: The word Ibadah (عبادت) literally means complete servitude, submission, and obedience (بندگی اور فرماں برداری).
Quranic Purpose of Creation
- Quranic Translation: Allah Almighty explicitly declares the divine purpose of existence in the Quran:
"اور ہم نے انسان اور جن کو صرف اپنی عبادت کے لیے پیدا کیا۔"(Translation: "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.")
Objective of Fasting (Roza)
- Primary Purpose: The core purpose of fasting in human life is the attainment of Taqwa (تقویٰ), which represents piety, God-consciousness, and self-restraint.
Psychological and Moral Impact of Prayer (Salah)
- Personal and Social Transformation: Performing daily Salah systematically creates the following ethical qualities in human life:
- Humility (عاجزی)
- Sense of Duty (فرض شناسی)
- Self-Control / Discipline (ضبطِ نفس)
- Equality (مساوات)
- Punctuality (پابندیِ وقت)
- Sense of Responsibility (احساسِ ذمہ داری)
- Guidelines for Fulfillment: Acts of worship must not be performed as mere empty or physical routines. To fulfill worship according to its true spirit, it must be performed:
- Keeping its underlying spiritual objective in mind.
- Strictly following the explicit command of Allah Almighty.
- Adhering completely to the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (سنتِ مطہرہ).

Literal Meanings of Dawat and Tableagh
- Dawat (دعوت): Literally means "to call" or "to invite" (بلانا).
- Tableagh (تبلیغ): Literally means "to convey", "deliver", or "pass on a message" (پہنچانا).
Universality of the Prophetic Call
- Quranic Evidence: Allah Almighty sent Prophet Muhammad (SAW) with a universal message not limited to any single tribe or nation:
"اور ہم نے آپ کو تمام لوگوں کے لیے بھیجا۔"(Translation: "And We have not sent you except comprehensively to all mankind.")
Diplomatic Letters to Foreign Monarchs
