‘A great many back payments’- feels he needs to repay/ make up for all the bad things he’s done and the times he didn’t participate in charitable experiences, trying to be a better Christian man, on the path to salvation/ redemption to avoid punishment and get to heaven as everyone wants to
‘Will you let me in, Fred’ – polite, asking instead of taking, wants to be involved, making an effort, putting himself out there despite his fear of rejection, opposite to as solitary as an oyster
‘I am about to raise your salary’ – kind, giving, regret, guilt, in hopes to clear his consciousness, trying to change, accommodate others needs, be selfless instead of selfish as he was before
‘He was a second father’ – allows you to sympathise relate to him as you see glimpses of his emotions and the type off person he really is, shows you why and how he became how he is today, possibly trying to justify his actions, make himself feel better
‘God bless us everyone’ – embracing good, belief and faith, thinking about everyone
Summary
Waking up in his own bed, back in the present, Scrooge is delighted to be given a second chance and makes Christmas happy for everyone. He sends a turkey to the Cratchits, gives money to the charity collectors, and joins Fred for Christmas. The next day he raises Bob’s wages and promises to become a friend to Tiny Tim, who does not die.

Getting Twice as Much as You Give - they idea that if you whole-heartedly/ genuinely give , donate, are charitable towards others in need God will give you twice as much to reward you for your kindness
