Piping Offsets
Obj 1 and 2 offsets for right angle triangle , use formulas for 45 and 90 degree angles
-Cut piece of pipe is the hypotenuse
-45 offsets reduce friction and amount of pipe used
always use center to center for calcs then do fitting allowance calcs after
for a 45/45/90 triangle, the hypotenuse is always the run * 1.414 = hypotenuse.
Pythagoras theorem also works if you forget the value 1.414, → a²+b²=c². Pythagoras theorem can be used for any length of a right angle triangle.
Travel dimension: center to center distance of the 45 deg fittings. This is the hypotenuse but if you were to cut, you need to substract the fitting allowance after calculating.
Run = horizontal distance of triangle (typically)
Offset = vertical distance of triangle (typically)
3-4-5 triangle - use to layout a square corner. Measure a 3m or 3’ line then a 4” or 4’ line, and when the distance between the two open ends is 5m or 5’, you have a 90 deg triangle. Any multiples of 3-4-5 will work.
obj 3 - offsets around objects
