Types of Bone

Long Bones: Legs - femur, tibia, fibula; Arms - humerus, radius, ulna. Support body weight and attach to powerful muscles for movement.

Short Bones: Phalanges (hands/feet), collarbone, ribs. Provide stability and some movement.

Flat Bones: Sternum and cranium bones. Protect vital organs.

Irregular Bones: Scapula (shoulder blade), vertebrae. Protect internal organs.

Sesamoid Bones: Patella (kneecap), also found in hand knuckles. Develop in tendons to protect areas over which they lie.
