Tests can be judged as culture-fair or culture-biased based on cultural preferences.
Individual or Group Tests
Individual tests are administered to one person at a time.
Group tests are administered to several persons simultaneously.

Group tests do not allow familiarity with the subjects’ feelings.

Verbal, Non-Verbal, or Performance Tests

Aptitude: Nature and Measurement
Aptitude refers to special abilities in a particular field of activity.
It is a combination of characteristics indicating an individual’s capacity to acquire knowledge or skill after training.

People with similar intelligence differ widely in acquiring certain knowledge or skills.
Specific skills and abilities are called aptitudes.

For success, a person must have both aptitude and interest.
Interest is a preference for a particular activity; aptitude is the potentiality to perform that activity.
Aptitude tests are available in two forms: independent and multiple.
Independent aptitude tests: Clerical, Mechanical, Numerical, and Typing Aptitude.
Multiple Aptitude Tests: Differential Aptitude Tests (DAT), General Aptitude Tests Battery (GATB), and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
DAT is most commonly used and consists of 8 independent subtests.
Creativity
Variations exist in the potential for creativity across individuals.
Creativity can be expressed in writing, dance, music, poetry, science, etc.
Manifestations of creativity can be observed in novel solutions, inventions, compositions, etc.
Creativity involves producing something new and unique.
Ordinary individuals can also be creative.
Individuals vary in the level and areas in which they exhibit creativity.
Einstein’s theory of relativity is an example of the highest level of creativity.
Children develop their imagination during early years and express creativity through physical activities.
Creativity is expressed through verbal modes when language and intellectual functions are fully developed.
Variations in creativity are attributed to the interaction of heredity and environment.
Environmental factors stimulate the development of creativity.
Creativity and Intelligence
One important debate has been the relationship of creativity with intelligence.
Persons with high IQ were not necessarily creative.
Creative ideas could come from persons who did not have a very high IQ.
Both high and low levels of creativity can be found in highly intelligent children and also children of average intelligence.
Intelligence by itself does not ensure creativity.
