Year 7 Science Rubric

Science & Scientists Objectives:

• I can define the study of Science.

• I can describe the major branches of Science.

• I can explain the importance of correctly researching information in

scientific investigations with honesty and reliability.

• I can reflect on social, cultural, economic, moral aspects of investigations.

• I can identify an area of neuroscience that is exciting and prepare a report. -Yet to summarize

• I can construct a profile of an Australian scientist who has received a Nobel Prize.

The Laboratory and Equipment:

• I can list and explain the safety procedures and rules for the science laboratory and include the disposing of chemicals.

• I can understand a procedure to set up a Bunsen Burner (*not actually setting it up!)

• I can describe and follow safe practical procedures.

• I can identify common/basic scientific equipment used in the laboratory.

• I can classify the uses of each equipment as for being for- containing, holding, heating, measuring, or miscellaneous (various types).

• I can conduct accurate 2D scientific diagrams of equipment.
