Weight and Balance Data

Data Sources

  • Aircraft Specification-A list of equipment with weights and arms may also be included in this document

  • Aircraft Operations-This is supplied by the aircraft manufacturer

  • Aircraft Flight Manual-This report is supplied by the aircraft manufacturer in case of new aircraft. When the aircraft is reweighed, technicians may prepare this report

  • Aircraft Weight and Balance Report-This is supplied by the aircraft manufacturer

  • Aircraft Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS)-This sheet provides the maximum weight, CG range, number of seats, datum location, fuel capacity, etc

-To accurately weigh an aircraft and calculate its empty weight center of gravity, you will need to draw from aircraft-specific documents that include weight and balance data. Sources of weight and balance data include the Aircraft Flight Manual, Aircraft Operating Limitations, Aircraft Specifications, Aircraft Weight and Balance Report, and the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS)

TCDS

-These are some of the information that can be found in the TCDS:

  • CG Range

  • Maximum Weight

  • Leveling Means

  • Number of seats and location

  • Baggage capacity

  • Fuel Capacity

  • Datum Location

  • Engine Horsepower

  • Oil Capacity

  • Amount of fuel in empty weight

  • Amount of oil in empty weight

-An aircraft’s TCDS includes important information such as the aircraft’s empty weight center of gravity range, datum location, leveling means, fuel and baggage capacity, maximum weight, and oil capacity.
