Homeostasis

Two main body systems controlling homeostasis:

CNS & Endocrine System

Set point is a central concept to which type of homeostatic control?

Negative feedback

Metabolism Regulation:

When metabolism is low (rate of energy throughout body), hypothalamus detects it, secretes hormone called TRH (Thyroid releasing hormone), sends to anterior pituitary gland, binds with receptors to releases TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone). TSH and Iodine work together synthesises Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3), which increase metabolism.

Consequence of Rickets

Loss of bone density due to a lack of Vitamin D. Increases risk of osteomalacia, which reduces bone strength. Poor teeth development, higher risk of caries.
