Anchor Points
Short, honest answer: YES — but only a few, and they’re super basic.
Not memorizing them is what makes graphing feel way harder than it needs to be.
What “remember anchor points” actually means
It does NOT mean memorizing tables.
It means knowing 2–3 obvious points for each parent function.
That’s it.
The ONLY anchor points you should remember
Absolute Value (y = |x|)
((0,0))
((1,1))
((-1,1))
Quadratic (y = x^2)
((0,0))
((1,1))
((-1,1))
Square Root (y = \sqrt{x})
((0,0))
((1,1))
((4,2))
Exponential (y = 2^x)
((0,1))
((1,2))
((-1,\tfrac12))
Reciprocal (y = \frac{1}{x})
((1,1))
((-1,-1))
