Momentum
Linear momentum
What does a moving object carry that makes it hard to stop?
Easier to change the motion of objects that have less mass
Object with mass has momentum, and momentum depends on mass of objects
Momentum is a vector that quantifies the “ease” with which an objects motion can be changed
Product of an objects mass (scalar) and its velocity (vector)
p=mv
Properties
p is bigger for a bigger mass moving with the same velocity
o is bigger for the same mass moving with a faster velocity
It has a direction (is a vector)
