Uranus medium moons
Overview of Uranus Moons
Uranus has a total of 27 moons.
Five of these moons are classified as large, while the remainder are considered small.
Notable Moons and Features
Ariel
Ariel:
Contains cracks, which may be a result of volcanic activity or impacts.
The origin of these cracks is unclear; further study is needed to understand them.
Titania, Oberon, and Umbriel
Titania, Oberon, and Umbriel:
All three moons are heavily cratered.
Heavily cratered surfaces suggest that these moons are old, with very little geological activity.
Lack of significant volcanic activity or surface movement accounts for the preservation of craters.
Unlike Saturn's moon Rhea, these moons do not exhibit wispy streaks, which could indicate ice or water content.
Appearance of the Moons
All mentioned moons appear dark in color, particularly Ariel.
The dark color implies low light reflection, suggesting limited or no water presence on their surfaces.
Miranda
Miranda:
Features ridges, valleys, and faults, indicating a varied topography.
Hypothesized to be composed of gravel-like material, loosely packed together.
This unique composition contributes to its dark appearance and low light reflection, as it's primarily made up of rocks.
