Preterite Stem-Changing Verbs

• General Rule For Stem-Changing ($-ir$) Verbs:

  • Unlike present tense stem-changers, these verbs only change their stem in the third-person singular ($él, ella, usted$) and third-person plural ($ellos, ellas, ustedes$) forms of the preterite.

  • The change is either $e \rightarrow i$ or $o \rightarrow u$.
