Derived from The Scream 1893 by Edvard Munch

The Scream was part of “Chapter V: Forcible Transfer of Children,” where it hung in a room with black walls. The entrance to the gallery space featured toys and crafts made by students at the Grouard Residential School 

references the horror of residential schools

Sky: turns from Grey to light, Crows to eagle, Kids escaping and running towards the light

The Catholic Church and RCMP are fighting off the apparent Indigenous peoples

Colors: RCMP → Bright Red, Indigenous → Dark Blues, Purples, white

Mostly women fighting to defend their children, but there is a man on the ground (may signify that the men were slaughtered)

Color vibrant compared to message of painting

kids taken away, different reactions between the kids, some have emotions of shock, sadness, anger, screaming

Stripping of not only clothing and hair but culture as well.

RCMP pale face blue eyes → lifeless, no soul

Indigenous mother very expressive → full of soul
