Theme Overview
Title: Skills for Sustainability: Equipping All Youth for the Future
Competition Focus: Addressing the global education crisis, with 57 million primary-aged children currently out of school. The aim is to explore solutions to enhance educational access and quality, equipping youth with necessary skills for future opportunities.
Alignment with UN Goals: The competition supports Sustainable Development Goal 4, which emphasizes inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning for all.
About the Competition
Competition Structure
Annually held for British Council Partner Schools in over 40 countries.
Students work in teams (up to five) to create a three-minute video reflecting the competition theme.
Each school selects one entry to submit, showcasing the students’ innovative ideas to enhance community sustainability and education.
Community Engagement
Students should identify a specific issue impacting their community, whether in their neighborhood or school, and develop solutions.
Focus is on creating social action plans that enhance educational opportunities, ensuring skills development that lasts into adulthood.
Participant Eligibility
Who Can Enter?
Open to students aged 14-17 pursuing UK qualifications like IGSCEs, O-Levels, and A-Levels.
Videos can be on various initiatives fostering skills essential for youth success.
Judging Criteria
Assessment Areas
Content: Originality and engagement level of the idea.
Structure: Organisation and clarity in presentation of ideas.
Visual Design: Quality of video production (footage/animation).
Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and inclusion of diverse cultural norms and values.
Overall Experience: Clarity of the message and its impact on the audience.
Tips for Impressing Judges
Focus on local community issues and demonstrate how challenges affect the students’ perspectives.
Show evidence of long-term positive impacts from community initiatives.
Competition Rules
Do's and Don'ts
Students Can:
Enter for free.
Seek guidance from their teachers.
Interpret the theme creatively.
Involve community members.
Students Cannot:
Use AI in their video production.
Focus on irrelevant issues.
Include personal names in titles or footage.
Share the video publicly during the competition.
Benefits of Participation
