Emulsions

Emulsion is an unstable physical mixture of two or more immiscible substances. (substances that will normally will not stay mixed).

Emulsion are considered a special type of suspension because they can separate but the difference between the Suspension is that with the Emulsion, the separation happens very slowly for a long period of time unlike Suspensions.

Examples of Emulsion: Skin creams, a properly formulated emulsion, stored under ideal conditions, can be stable for up to three years.

Again, emulsion substances are unstable mixtures of two or more immiscible substances that will not stay mixed unless we used a special ingredient called an Emulsifier.

EMULSIFIER

An emulsifier is an ingredient that will bring two normally incompatible materials together and binds them into a uniform and fairly stable mixture.

An example of an Emulsifier is a substance called Surfactants!
