WW2 Unit Notes (Saving Private Ryan)

D-day June 6, 1944

The Higgins boat was used to deliver troops onto the beaches and many people got sick on them or fell overboard and drowned.

The 5 beaches were

* A white stripe on the helmet was used to identify ranks

Front= Rank

Side= Unit

Back=Officer

Dog Green Sector= Omaha Beach

Shell shock happened to soldiers entering the beach it is when a bunch of traumatic events happen at once and you are unable to control it.

They had to run close to the walls to avoid being shot.

Americans burned every bunker and tehn the U.s occupied the whole beach.

* A paratrooper is someone who volunteers to jump out of planes behind enemy lines.
