Aniimo Masterclass Lesson 1: Potential, IP, AP, and the 20-Point System
Fundamental Definitions and the Core Potential Formula
The Aniimo development system is built upon a central formula that determines the growth of an Aniimo's attributes.
Fundamental Formula:
: Total Potential.
: Innate Potential.
: Acquired Potential.
Distinguishing Between Stats, Potential, and Grades
It is critical to differentiate between three distinct systems to understand an Aniimo's power level:
Raw Combat Stats: These are the actual numerical values utilized during battle calculations to determine outcomes. Examples include specific values for HP, ATK, or BREAK.
Potential: These are development values attached to each specific attribute. For example, a spread might look like / / / / / . It is important to note that a Potential value of does not equate to " ATK"; it is a growth value that influences that attribute.
Potential Grade: This is a qualitative label or "quality roll" assigned to the Aniimo. Common labels include Good, Elite, or Perfect.
The Six Combat Attributes
Potential values are connected to six core attributes that define an Aniimo's performance in combat:
HP (Hit Points): Determines the amount of damage an Aniimo can withstand.
ATK (Attack): Determines the strength of the Aniimo's offensive strikes.
BREAK: Determines the effectiveness of the Aniimo at breaking or staggering enemies.
P.DEF (Physical Defense): Mitigates incoming physical damage.
M.DEF (Magical Defense): Mitigates incoming magical damage.
REGEN (Regeneration): Governs recovery and regeneration rates.
Understanding Innate Potential (IP) and Acquired Potential (AP)
Innate Potential (IP): This represents the values an Aniimo is born with or possesses at the moment it is obtained.
In community slang, IP is often referred to as "IVs" due to its functional similarity to the Individual Values system in Pokemon.
Acquired Potential (AP): This represents the values added to an Aniimo later through progression and the Capability Awakening system.
The 20-Point System and Core Targets
In the CB3 Potential and Awakening model, there are two primary anchor numbers to memorize regarding development targets:
: The normal core target for a single attribute.
: The collective core target for all six attributes ().
Formulas for Calculating Required Investment
To determine the amount of progression required to reach the core ceiling, use the following formulas:
AP Needed for One Attribute:
Example: If an attribute has an , the AP needed is .
Total AP Needed for the Whole Aniimo:
Worked Example of Total AP Calculation
For an Aniimo with a starting IP spread of / / / / / :
Step 1 (Total IP):
Step 2 (AP Needed to reach 120):
Breakdown per Stat:
Attribute 1: , needs AP to reach .
Attribute 2: , needs AP to reach .
Attribute 3: , needs AP to reach .
Attribute 4: , needs AP to reach .
Attribute 5: , needs AP to reach .
Attribute 6: , needs AP to reach .
Memory Shortcut: Every additional IP point reduces the required AP points by to reach the same target ceiling.
Efficiency and Investment Advantages
High starting IP does not necessarily mean an Aniimo will be stronger than others forever. If two Aniimo are both capable of reaching the core ceiling of in every stat (a total), the difference lies in efficiency.
Scenario A: An Aniimo starts with IP. It requires AP to reach the core result.
Scenario B: An Aniimo starts with IP. It requires AP to reach the core result.
Conclusion: Aniimo B is not inherently stronger at the cap; it simply starts closer to the cap, saving the player AP points and corresponding upgrade materials.
Resource Management: Capability Fruit
Capability Fruit is a rare resource observed in CB3 testing.
It can increase the two recommended Innate Potential attributes by each.
This increase is capped at a value of .
Example Scenario: An Elite Aniimo with a spread of / / / / / has a total IP of . Using Capability Fruit on the recommended 7s results in a spread of / / / / / , raising the total IP to and reducing the AP needed for a perfect core to .
Progression Beyond the Core Potential
While the core Potential target is per attribute ( total), additional layers of progression can push an Aniimo's power beyond this baseline:
Carried Items: Gear that can be held by an Aniimo to provide specific bonuses.
Runes: These function to further enhance Carried Items and their associated bonuses.
Resonant Star Upgrades: A separate progression layer that adds attribute bonuses on top of the Potential system.
The Car Analogy for Aniimo Systems
To better understand how these systems interact, they can be compared to automotive performance:
Species / Base Stats: The specific model of the car purchased.
Innate Potential (IP): The quality of the car as it came from the factory.
Acquired Potential (AP) / Awakening: The custom tuning installed by the owner.
The Number 20: The normal tuning target for a single attribute.
Carried Items and Runes: Aftermarket parts added to the vehicle.
Resonance Bonuses: An additional performance layer stacked on top of everything else.
Summary of Memorizable Formulas
Questions & Discussion
Q1: Your Aniimo has 8 / 8 / 4 / 4 / 4 / 4. What is its total IP? It has a total of IP ().
Q2: One attribute has IP = 7. How much AP is needed to reach 20? AP is needed, because .
Q3: An Aniimo has 35 total IP. How many additional Potential points are needed to reach 120? AP points are needed, because .
Q4: An Elite has 7 / 7 / 4 / 4 / 4 / 4. A Capability Fruit raises the two recommended 7s by +1 each. A) What do the two 7s become? B) What is the new total IP? C) How much AP is needed to reach 120? A) They become and . B) The new total IP is . C) AP is needed to reach the target.
Q5: Aniimo A starts with 32 IP. Aniimo B starts with 40 IP. If both can reach 20 / 20 / 20 / 20 / 20 / 20, which is stronger from core Potential alone, and what advantage did the 40-IP Aniimo actually have? Neither is stronger from core Potential alone if both reach the same core ceiling. The advantage for Aniimo B is that it saved AP worth of investment and resources.
Q6: A roll is 9 / 8 / 5 / 4 / 4 / 4. Find the total IP, then find the AP needed to reach 120. Total IP is (). The AP needed is .
Q7: True or false: A Potential value of 8 means the Aniimo has 8 ATK. False. Potential is a development value that influences an attribute, not the raw combat-stat number itself.
Q8: Complete the sentence: Every extra +1 starting IP means ______ less AP required to reach the same 120 target. Every extra starting IP means point less AP required.
