Geometry Terms & Relationships

‎- Point: Exact location; no length, width, or height — named with a capital letter (e.g. Point A)

‎- Line: Straight, endless set of points; extends infinitely in two opposite directions — named with two points or one lowercase letter (AB  or line m).

‎- Plane: Flat, 2‑D surface with length + width; extends infinitely in all directions — named with 3 non‑collinear points or one capital letter (Plane X).

‎- Parallel Lines: Coplanar lines that never intersect; stay equal distance apart — symbol  ∥

‎- Perpendicular Lines: Intersect at exactly 90° (right angle) — symbol  ⊥

‎- Line Segment: Part of a line with two fixed endpoints; measurable length.

‎- Ray: Starts at one endpoint, extends infinitely in one direction.

‎- Opposite Rays: Share one endpoint, form a straight line going opposite ways.

‎- Opposite Rays: Share one endpoint, go in exact opposite directions, form a straight line.

‎- Angle: Shape formed when two rays meet at a shared endpoint (vertex).

‎- Naming Angles: Vertex letter always in the middle

‎Geometric Construction of;

‎- Parallel lines: Keep equal spacing, never cross — drawn with matching tick marks.

‎- Perpendicular lines: Cross to make a perfect square corner / 90°.

‎- Intersecting lines: Cross at one point and create angles that you name from that intersection.
