Fable — A short story, usually with animals as characters, that teaches a moral

Myth — A traditional story that explains natural events, beliefs, or history, often involving gods

Juxtaposition — Placing things side by side to compare or contrast them

Polytheism — Belief in multiple gods

Pantheon — A group of gods belonging to a religion or belief system

Creation Story — A story explaining how the world and humans began

Flood Myth — A story about a great flood that destroys most life and begins the world again

Deity — A god or goddess

Skald — A Viking-age poet and storyteller

Oral Tradition — Passing knowledge through spoken stories, songs, or poems
