cancer

Cancer is caused when changes occur in the DNA of cells that result in uncontrolled growth and division. This can lead to tumours forming, however not all tumours are cancerous,

MALIGNANT

Cells; cancerous

Spread: spread to the other parts of body via blood stream ( secondary tumours)

BENIGN

Cells: abnormal

Location: contained, usually bound by membrane

Spread: does not invade/spread to other areas

Malignant tumours are more likely to disrupt the functioning of teh organ they are found in as they invade a healthy tissue.
