• 1 - first conditional

-wydarzenia realne, mają dużą szansę spełnić się w teraźniejszości lub bliskiej przyszłości

-obietnice, groźby, plany, namawianie na coś

if + present simple, + future simple

If it rains, we will cancel the trip.

• 2 - second conditional

-nieprawdopodobne, niemożliwe, marzenia, „gdybym była tobą/prezydentem/bogata itp”

-both parts are about the future

if + past simple, + would + infinitive

If I won the lottery, I would buy a house by the sea.

• 3 - third conditional

-hipotetyczne sytuacje w przeszłości: jeśli coś by się stało w przeszłości, to miałoby wtedy (w przeszłości) jakiś skutek (ale już za późno bo nie cofniemy czasu, nie stało się i już się nie stanie)

if + past perfect, + would have + past participle (3rd form)

If he had checked the map, he wouldn’t have got lost.

If he had checked the map (BUT HE DIDN’T) (THEN), he wouldn’t have got lost (NOW).

• 2+3 - mixed conditional

-kiedy sytuacja teraźniejsza (ogólna) mogłaby zmienić sytuację z przeszłości

if + past simple, + would have + past participle (3rd form)

If he was interested in you, he would have contacted you by now.

If he was interested in you (NOW) (BUT HE’S NOT), he would have contacted you by now.
