Comparative Analysis Essay and Process Notes

The comparative analysis essay asks you to respond to a set question by comparing two clips from two different set screenings.
Details about the question and the clips will be available on blackboard.
Use your film analysis skills to work a comparative argument that is relevant to a larger topic in film and television studies.
1500 word essay
40% of my grade
choose one of the questions provided and answer it using two clips from the movies that have been covered. one clip must be from the assorted list, while the other can be from any point of any film in the course.
Reference at least 2 academic sources outside of the course readings in your essay
Process Notes:
These will be completed in weekly tutorials as writing tasks and will work as a scaffold for your final essay.
Notes:
you can have minimal overlap with other questions while answering the q. like for example
style refers to everything including analysing performance. Style is referring to mise en scene, cinematography and editing. Focus on the most salient and relevant aspects of style during those scenes.
Consequences of inequality (Parasite and Sweet country) even though they have the same outcome, analyse how differently they represent it.
Make a clear claim or thesis statement that addresses the essay question in your intro
each para of the essay should support the arguement that i’m making using the clips (this is your evidence)
Have a conclusion that restates the arguement that you’ve made, and how it has provided an answer to your chosen essay question.
don’t jump and forth between the clips as it can hinder the argument and the explanations you have.
