Rectangular Coordinate System

  • Definition: A rectangular coordinate system consists of two perpendicular number lines called axes.

  • Key Components:

    • X-axis: Horizontal line.

    • Y-axis: Vertical line.

    • Point of Origin: Intersection of axes (0,0).

Quadrants

  • The Cartesian Plane is divided into four quadrants:
