Rectangular Coordinate System
Definition: A rectangular coordinate system consists of two perpendicular number lines called axes.
Key Components:
X-axis: Horizontal line.
Y-axis: Vertical line.
Point of Origin: Intersection of axes (0,0).
Quadrants
The Cartesian Plane is divided into four quadrants:
Quadrant I: (+, +)
Quadrant II: (−, +)
Quadrant III: (−, −)
Quadrant IV: (+, −)
Every point is represented by an ordered pair (x, y).
Abscissa (x): Distance from the Y-axis.
Ordinate (y): Distance from the X-axis.

Steps to plot a point (x,y):
Start at the origin (0,0).
Move along the X-axis according to x-coordinate.
Move up or down according to the y-coordinate.
