Five vital signs
Heart Rate
Blood Pressure
Temperature
Respiratory rate
Blood oxygen
Heart rate:
BPM=beats per minute
Normal range is 60-100 beats per minute
Heart rate is not similar to blood pressure
How fast the heart is going
Usually if you are more fit your heart doesnt have to pump as much
Things that affect heart rate are age, hormones, size of heart, medicine, and strength of heart
To measure heart rate, you check your pulse and count how many beats your heart does for 15 secs, you then multiply that number by four.
Blood Pressure
The amount of Pressure on the walls of your arteries
Arteries move blood away from heart, veins move blood to heart.
Blood pressure is measured in the arteries
The lower number is diastolic is the resting pressure in the vesse
Blood pressure is measurement of force applied to the artery walls.
Normal blood pressure is 120/80
Higher number (systolic) is measured at the bulge
Diastolic number should be 60/80
Systolic number should be 80/120
140-90 is hypertension
Things that make BP go up are
High salt diet, alcohol, obesity, inactive, genetics, smoking, stress,
8-20 average respitory rate. Number of breaths per minute
Blood oxygen is the amount of oxygen in your blood. The average percentage is 95-100%. Some things that can affect this are, medicines, respitory disorders, and anemia.
The average temperature is 98.6 or 37 celcius.
