Leader: provides the vision, direction of organization, goals, and objective (idea man; vision maker)
Leadership: process where individuals influences a group of people to achieve a common goal
Appointed/Prescribed Leaders: Leaders appointed by an authoritative figure
Emergent leaders: individuals who emerge from a group and automatically take charge
tends to be a more effective leader
Peer leadership have a higher perceived competence, intrinsic motivation and positive social behaviors. Because of this they are important to team outcomes and increase both task/social cohesion, athlete satisfaction, emotional control and collective efficacy.
Team captains are a good example of this.

Cognitive-mediational model
coach leadership behaviors are a reflection of their own personal characteristic, which is also influenced by situational factors and athletes perceptions
