Tolerance:
- Need for higher doses to achieve same effect over time (e.g., Valium).
Dependence Types:
- Physical Dependence:
- Physiological need with withdrawal symptoms (e.g., physical pain, cravings).
- Psychological Dependence:
- Emotional need to use drugs for well-being and stress reduction.
Addiction:
- Combination of physical and psychological dependence.
Substance Use Disorder:
- Psychological disorder affecting health and social functioning due to drug use.
