Parallel Lines and Transversals
Parallel Lines and Transversals
Core Terms
Parallel Lines: Lines that never intersect.
Transversal: A line that intersects the parallel lines.
Supplementary: Angles that add up to 180.
Corresponding Angles | In the same relative position at each crossing | Congruent |
Vertical Angles | Opposite each other at an intersection | Congruent |
Alternate Interior Angles | Inside the parallel lines, opposite sides of the transversal | Congruent |
Alternate Exterior Angles | Outside the parallel lines, opposite sides of the transversal | Congruent |
Same-Side Interior Angles | Inside the parallel lines, same side of the transversal | Supplementary |
Same-Side Exterior Angles | Outside the parallel lines, same side of the transversal | Supplementary |
Linear Pair | Side-by-side angles on a straight line | Supplementary |
