FSCI 2/25

Overview of Witness Identification Procedures

  • The agency can require a witness to establish the ownership of fingerprints.

Steps for Submitting Identification Evidence

  • When submitting evidence regarding the individual associated with fingerprints:
    • Typically, important data will be included at the top of evidence cards (as previously mentioned).
    • Photographic Evidence:
    • If available, a mugshot should be attached to the submission.
    • If no mugshot is available, submit an alternative photograph, which could include:
      • A photo of the individual.
      • A photo of the individual's driver's license or another form of identification.

Fingerprint Evidence

  • You must ensure that the suspect's fingerprints are already on file with the relevant authorities.
  • It’s critical to enlarge specific areas of the fingerprints for clearer examination and comparison.
