Active Transport (copy)

Active Transport: Movement up/against the concentration gradient, movement of molecules that cant move passively because of size or charge; uses energy

Concentration gradient: measures the difference in concentrations of a substance between areas.

Active Transport Pumps:

Sodium-Potassium Pumps: Moves both sodium and potassium across the membrane using ATP

Coupled Channels: Transport food and other particles into the cell using ATP

Endocytosis: cells surround and takes in material from its environment, making a vacuole

Phagocytosis: endocytosis of solids

Pinocytosis: endocytosis of liquids

Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis: specific molecule bonds to receptor and is taken into cell by endocytosis

Exocytosis: opposite of endocytosis- vesicle fuses with membrane and releases contents
