No one knows the hour, not even the Son?

Why does Jesus claim no one knows the hour, not the angles in heaven nor the son but only the father?

• Jewish tradition link as getting engaged the groom goes back to prepare house, and when its prepared its only the Father that will announce when the house is ready.

• The chapter (Matthew 24) in its entirety shows that Jesus knows every detail of everything that will happen in the end times. So you shouldn’t consider that the Son of man being fully human and fully God was somehow ignorant of the end times.

• When the Lord says that “not even the son knows” St John Chrysostom says Jesus is displaying to them that they should not busy themselves with things that are greater than them.

  • this is not out of ignorance but as a means to say focus on what I have taught you and do not be concerned and troubled about things greater.
