US tactic against the VC
- Small units of US soldiers searched the jungle for VC camps and supplies
- Called helicopters to bomb/spray chemicals on them
- The missions were often on ground that the VC had prepared with land mines and traps
- Hit and run attacks occurred on these missions
- Called Zippo raids as they would commit arson
- Worsened US relations with the villagers as they would cause damage to the villages
