US tactic against the VC

1. Small units of US soldiers searched the jungle for VC camps and supplies

2. Called helicopters to bomb/spray chemicals on them

• The missions were often on ground that the VC had prepared with land mines and traps

• Hit and run attacks occurred on these missions

• Called Zippo raids as they would commit arson

• Worsened US relations with the villagers as they would cause damage to the villages
