Slotted PVC Staircase LED Light Fabrication and Installation Guide
Page 1: Material Preparation and Mechanical Fabrication
Substrate and Initial Layout
The project utilizes a cylindrical polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe as the foundational structural element. Fabrication begins with surface marking, where layout guidelines are drawn directly across the exterior of the pipe body to define the cutting paths.
Cutting and Section Extraction
Incision Execution: Mechanical cuts are carried out precisely along the established guide lines, cutting directly on top of every marked line.
Material Removal: Two complete pieces are excised and removed entirely from the pipe structure, altering the body of the cylinder to create internal access and specialized light apertures.

Interior and Exterior Surface Finishing
Interior Surface: The inside wall of the PVC pipe is coated with copper paint. This metallic copper lining serves both a decorative and an optical function, acting as a warm, reflective surface for light distribution.
Exterior Surface: The exterior profile is painted in a contrasting navy blue finish, establishing an opaque outer barrier that restricts light emission solely to the engineered cuts.
Electronic Component Integration
Perforation: A dedicated mounting hole is drilled through the wall of the pipe casing.
Light Source Placement: A light-emitting diode (LED) is positioned inside the pipe cavity and secured firmly in place with glue.
Wiring: Electrical wiring is coupled to the LED unit and routed out through the drilled portal to establish the necessary power connection.
Spatial Installation along Stairs
The completed fixture is transported and mounted continuously along a staircase, extending from top to bottom to provide linear, step-level illumination.
Day vs. Night Aesthetic and Optical Performance
Daytime State: Under daylight or ambient environmental illumination, the fixture exhibits an inactive, mechanical appearance, presenting visually as a navy blue pipe defined by open cuts.
Nighttime State: In darkness, activating the internally glued LED and reflective copper cavity transforms the fixture's output: every cut functions as an optical slit, casting defined, individual rays of light across the staircase environment.
