RJ45 Keystone Jacks

There are multiple types of keystone jacks, such as for HDMI, fiber, coaxial, … etc., we will mostly focus on the RJ45 keystone jack. The RJ45 keystone jack has 8 IDC clips on the back.

110 IDC clips

110 IDC (insulation-displacement connector) clips are components of RJ45 110 IDC blocks. They are used to terminate twisted pair cables on 110 IDC blocks. The insulation displacement connectors have sharp metal prongs that cut though the insulation allowing direct contact with the conductor inside.

110 IDC Block

110 IDC blocks can be used as the termination point on the back end of a patch panels and also as a standalone termination block for cross-connections. When used as a standalone termination block, its purpose is to create a flexible cabling setup between the incoming lines and outgoing lines in order to make changes without affecting the permanent cabling.

RJ45 couplers are used to connect two RJ45 Ethernet cables together, extending their range or providing a way to patch connections. This can introduce signal degradation, specially over longer distances
