Internet and World Wide Web Basics

Web Languages and Protocols
- Hyper text Markup language (HTML): Language used to display content on browses. All website are written in HTML and hosted on a web saves with its own IP address.
- HTTP (Hyper textransfer prolocas): A set of rules that must be obeyed when transferring files and webpages across the internet.
- HTTPS (text transfer protocol secure): Ensures a secure connection is made b/w the 2 devices engaging in data transfer.
- Data Security: Data packets are encrypted before transmission and decrypted only upon reaching the intended destination.
Systems and Browser Features
- Domain Name System (DNS): A system for finding IP addresses for a domain name given in a URL. DNS serves contain a database that eliminates the need for a user to memorise IP addresses.
- Web Browsers: Software allowing a uses to access ad display web pages on device screens.
