Sound Waves
Sound Wave Basics
- Sound is transmitted via sound waves.
- A sound wave is produced when an object vibrates, causing the air around it to move back and forth.
- The vibration of the object pushes air particles, which in turn vibrate and cause adjacent particles to vibrate, propagating the sound wave.
- Speed of sound in air: approximately 343 meters per second.
- Sound wave propagation: vibration of air particles.
