Sexual sin
Paul address talk of a sexual sin in Corinth as well
That of a man with his mother in law
Pride
Other Corinthians were prideful and chose to ignore the sin rather than mourn the potential loss of their own
Paul has righteously judged this person
The sinner has been put out of the church, not to inflict evil, but to deliver his sin to Satan so that he may pay the rightful consequences of his sin without protection or comfort from the church
Destruction of his flesh
So that his spirit is saved
Corinth’s purposeful ignorance of the sin is evil
Paul says a little leaven causes the whole bread to rise
A little leeway for sin causes greater corruption
Leave out the leftover leaven so that they are pure
Be unleavened and new, away from your old sin
Paul, in a previous letter, said not to hang out with sexually immoral people
Don’t expect Godly behavior from ungodly people
Expect Godly behavior from your people in the church
Don’t eat with the sexually immoral church people either!
They judge the people outside so harshly that they ignore the people and sin inside!
Judging fork found in kitchen but not cow inside living room
