Wernickes Aphasia - damage to wernickes area(temporal lobe) fluent aphasia, sounds fluent but mostly jargon, and is really hard to understand. In severe cases they can’t understand what other people are saying
Brocas Aphasia - damage to brocas area (frontal lobe), nonfluent aphasia, struggling to make clear coherant sentences, usually aware, problems with syntax
Apraxia - defecit in the motor programming of articulatory movements in the absence of muscle weakness or paralysis. not a muscle problem directly but higher order problem. usually damage to the frontal/parietal lobe
Hypokinetic Dysarthria - lack of movement often caused by parkinsons, speech is rushed with reduced duration and intensity
Hyperkinetic Dysarthria - extraneous involuntary movement of speech muscles in addition to voluntary movement
Dysarthria - a speech disorder arising from paralysis, muscular weakness, and discoordination of speech muscles
