General intelligence (g): According to Spearman and others, underlies all mental abilities and is therefore measured by every task on an intelligence test.

Aptitude Test: Inteded to predict ability to learn some new skill

• wanted to solve the issue of dependence on language for intelligence testing for the benefit of nonative English speakers and small children.

Weschler: tests separate strengths

Heritability: Portion of variation among people in group that is attributed to genes
