Tundra: Permafrost and Very short growing season, low primary productivity, grasses, sedges, lichens, mosses

Boreal: Taiga; high altitude or high latitude, just below tundra. Cold-tolerant and drought-tolerant trees that remain green year-round

Conifer: evergreen/ softwood (think PNW)

Deciduous: hardwoods, such as Oak, that lose their leaves in the winter (think East Coast forests)

Temperate Deciduous Forest: Well-defined seasons (hot summers, cool winters in which trees lose their leaves for winter. Hardwoods. 

Tropical: extremely high biodiversity and little annual temperature variation; humid climate
