Domestic violence is a pattern of abuse used to control someone in a close relationship. It can be physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, social, or financial.


2. Five examples of domestic violence:

  2. Forcing unwanted sex

  3. Isolating from friends/family

  4. Controlling money

  5. Constant insults or threats


3. Definitions:

  • Physical violence: Causing harm using physical force

  • Social abuse: Isolating someone from others

  • Sexual violence: Forcing unwanted sexual acts

  • Psychological abuse: Using threats or fear to control

  • Economic abuse: Controlling money or access to resources

  • Emotional abuse: Hurting self-esteem through words or actions


4. Causes of domestic violence:

  1. Substance abuse

  2. Cultural beliefs or gender roles

  3. Growing up around violence

  4. Poor anger control


5. Effects of domestic violence:

  1. Physical injuries

  2. Mental health problems

  3. Low self-esteem

  4. Problems at school or work


6. Prevention methods:
