Moles

  • can count molecules or atoms, need to consider how many atoms per molecule

  • in real chemistry numbers of atoms + molecules are very large

  • we use the “mole” as a counting unit to represent numbers of chemicals

  • 1 mole = 6.022 × 10²³ - Avogadro’s number (just like dozen =120)

  • can also link moles to mass, the mass on periodic table is mass in grams for 1 mol of those atoms
