Overview of Organs in the Stomach Region
Liver: A vital organ involved in detoxification, protein synthesis, and the production of biochemicals necessary for digestion. Cut away to display other organs.
Gall Bladder: A small, pear-shaped organ that stores bile produced by the liver, which helps in the digestion of fats.
Bile Duct: A tube that carries bile from the gall bladder and liver to the duodenum.
Esophagus: The tube that passes food from the throat to the stomach.
Stomach: A muscular organ that further breaks down food and mixes it with gastric juices.
Pyloric Sphincter: A circular muscle that controls the passage of food from the stomach to the duodenum.
Duodenum: The first section of the small intestine where most chemical digestion occurs.
Spleen: An organ that filters blood and helps the body fight infections.
Pancreas: An organ that produces enzymes and hormones, important for digestion and blood sugar regulation.
Right Kidney: One of two kidney organs that filter blood and produce urine.
Left Kidney: The second kidney performing similar functions as the right kidney.
Ovary: The female reproductive organ that produces eggs and hormones.
Oviduct: A tube through which an egg passes from the ovary to the uterus.
Uterine Horn: The part of the uterus where the oviducts connect to the main body of the uterus.
Uterus: The organ where a fertilized egg implants and develops during pregnancy.
Vagina: A canal that joins the external genitals to the uterus.
Rectum: The final section of the large intestine, terminating at the anus.
Urogenital Opening: The external opening of the urinary and reproductive tracts.
Penis: The male reproductive organ that delivers sperm to the female reproductive system.
Vas Deferens: The duct that conveys sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct.
Ureter: The duct by which urine passes from the kidney to the bladder.
Bladder: The organ that stores urine before excretion.
Urethra: The tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.
Bulbo-Urethral Gland: Glands that secrete fluid into the urethra to lubricate it during ejaculation.
Epididymis: A coiled tube where sperm matures and is stored.
Testis: The male reproductive organ that produces sperm and hormones.
Gubernaculum: A structure that guides the descent of the testes within the scrotum during fetal development.
